Who Determines the Duration of Workers' Compensation?
Workers’ compensation provides assistance if you are injured on the job or sustain a work-related illness. The Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act allows for medical expenses and compensation for lost wages if you cannot work.
This video explains that workers’ compensation systems across the country rely on the American Medical Association’s guide to impairment ratings to determine how long you can receive compensation and how much you are entitled to receive. These evaluations measure your abilities at home, but not necessarily at work. In Pennsylvania, you must be at least 50 percent disabled using the impairment ratings to receive workers’ compensation.
